Driver - Matt Harms
Matt started going to
the races at the age of 6 with his Dad, helping him out with his
mini sprint. After 6 years of this Matt
finally got to take his first laps as a driver in karts. Four
years after that
at the age of 16 his Dad decided to retire from racing and Matt
took over the driving responsibilities of the three-quarter midget
his
Dad had been driving. After a successful rookie season in TQ’s and
two feature wins in a row Dave and Matt Harms (D&M Racing)
got into sprint cars in 1999.
1994 - first season racing karts
1995 - First kart feature wins
1996 - 3rd place points finish in Junior II class
1997 - 2nd place points finish in the Stock Heavy class
1998 - Two TQ midget feature wins in a row and numerous top 5 finishes
2003 - 2nd in track points at 34 Raceway Burlington, IA
2003 - 10th in Sprint Invaders Points
2007 - 8th in Sprint Invaders Points, Kevin Doty Memorial Award
for Perseverance.
1999-2008 - Many sprint car top 10’s, top 5’s, top 3’s
and preliminary event wins.
Team Owner/Crew Chief - Dave Harms
Dave got his racing
career started in 1957 racing karts. After many successful
seasons in karts he made the jump to running
micro midgets.
A call from Uncle Sam and the birth of two daughters stalled
the racing efforts in the early 70’s. Then in 1988
a mini sprint was purchased and the racing resumed. In 1994
Dave
started driving
TQ midgets until
1998 with many top 10, top 5, top 3 and winning finishes.
